피부과 의사로서 10년 이상을 진료하다 보면, 흔한 피부질환들은 병변을 자세히 관찰하지 않더라도 환자의 피부병변을 보는 순간 뇌리를 스쳐가는 느낌만으로도 진단명을 아는 경우가 대부분입니다. 하지만 피부병변에 발생한 primary lesions과 secondary lesions을 확인함도 없이 눈으로 느끼는 감(感)으로만 진단하려고 하는 좋지않은 습관은 곧 정확한 진단을 내리는 데 한계에 부딪히고, 비슷한 피부병변을 감별할 수 없는 상황에 빠지게 됩니다.
피부 종양에서는 확진을 위하여 조직검사를 필수적으로 시행해야 하지만 피부과 개원의 경우 조직검사를 자주 시행할 수 있는 상황이아니기 때문에 피부 종양을 제외한 염증성 피부질환에서는 조직검사 없이도 임상적으로 정확하게 진단명을 알 수 있는 능력을 배양시킬 수 있는 진료습관이 필요합니다.
이 책은 피부질환을 공부하는 선생님들이 많은 시간을 할애하지 않고도 흔하면서도 흥미있는 피부질환들의 감별진단과 간단한 치료법에 대하여 알 수 있도록 기술하였습니다. 그리고 기존의 전통적인 레이저 치료법에는 잘 치료가 되지 않는 피부 색소 질환인 cafe au lait spot, partial unilateral lentiginosis, Becker's nevus, centrofacial multiple lentigines, Hori's nevus, congenital melanocytic nevus 등을 저자가 고안한 Golden parameter therapy와 OMS parameter therapy를 사용하여 치료하는 방법에 주안점을 두고 서술하였습니다.
끝으로 이 책이 피부과를 공부하는 선생님들에게 진료할 때 조금이라도 도움이 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
